As such, there is a need to ensure safety to both personnel and equipment from the dangers posed by uncontrolled surges originating from lightning discharges or other sources of over-voltages. Protection of such facilitiy usually requires consideration of the electrical environments at the following locations, and the mitigation of this via the installation of correctly selected and appropriately rated SPDs (surge protective devices).
